Nancy Kotzen is a professor of marketing at Westfield State College. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from The University of Bridgeport, an M.A. in Education from Suffolk University, and an M.B.A. from Western New England College. Nancy developed and administers the Commercial Recreation and Tourism minor. She is particularly proud of the success of the Walt Disney World College Program which she brought to Westfield State. Her current interests are developing more in-depth courses in the hospitality field. Nancy is a member of the Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (CHRIE) and the American Collegiate Retailing Association (ACRA).
Gary Merlo is a professor in the department of management at Westfield State College. He holds a B.B.A. for University of Massachusetts, an M.B.A. from Western New England College, and doctoral studies at University of Massachusetts and University of Connecticut.
He has extensive experience in industry before joining Westfield State College in marketing, finance, and production operations. In addition, he has worked as an consultant for numerous organizations in the Springfield area.
Professor Merlo is active in the area of computer education and utilizes computer simulation software to augment his classes. He is coordinator of the aviation and internship program within the department.
Outside Interests and Activities:
Married with 4 children, spends a considerable amount of time traveling in his recreation vehicle, scuba diving, and sailing his Hobbie Cat. He is also interested in the restoration and preservation of antique and classic automobiles. He has served as an officer and on the board of organizations that promote the preservation of automobiles.
