Bachelor of Arts in Economics
The program in economics is designed to build a framework by which a student can analyze economic issues in contemporary society. This includes a systematic introduction to the basic theoretical and empirical techniques of economics. The program seeks to accommodate a broad range of student interests including preparation for careers in business or government, and graduate school in economics, business, law, or public administration.
Special Features
The Economic program, like others at Westfield State College, features small class size and individual attention, emphasizing participation by students. The Economics Society, now more than 25 years old sponsors guest speakers, symposiums, and field trips. Since 2006, the Economics Program has been a member of ΟΔΕ, the International Economics Honor Society. Students are encouraged to participate in our national exchange program with 134 public colleges and universities in 47 states and Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S Virgin Islands. Westfield State also belongs to a consortium of eight-area colleges, offering students access to all courses in the cooperative arrangement.
